What I do

Four finishes, one standard.

Everyday plastering and the specialist work share the same standard: careful preparation, sharp beads and a finish that looks right when the light hits it.

Plastering & skimming

Boarding, skimming and full renovation plastering, ceilings included.

Whole rooms taken back and done properly: vapour barriered, plasterboarded and skimmed, rooflights and curved window reveals formed so every opening finishes clean and seamless. And I’ve lost count of how many awkward ceilings I’ve skimmed.

Rendering

K Rend approved applicator, rebuilt from the substrate up.

When old sand and cement render has failed, I hack it off, re-bead for a sharp finish, apply a K Rend HP12 basecoat and finish in K Rend Silicone TC for a clean, modern look that’s built to last.

Venetian plaster

Polished plaster with real depth and movement.

Feature walls in Super Lucido Venetian plaster, polished to a high sheen with a subtle marble effect. Kept soft and neutral it sits naturally in a room, and the variation in the plaster gives the wall character, especially when the light catches it.

Tadelakt

Waterproof Moroccan lime plaster for bathrooms and en-suites.

Instead of the usual tiling, tadelakt gives a seamless polished finish that still does everything a bathroom wall needs to. Earthy tones are traditional, but there’s a lot of choice in colour, right up to two-tone finishes trowelled in two separate colours.

Why tadelakt?

A bathroom with no tiles and no grout lines.

Tadelakt is a Moroccan lime plaster, polished until it’s waterproof. The lime is antibacterial, hypoallergenic and regulates moisture well, which makes it perfect for finishing bathrooms and kitchens.

Instead of the usual tiling, it gives you a fresh, seamless look without sacrificing anything a wet room needs from its walls.

Most people picture earthy tones, and you can certainly have them. But there’s a lot of choice in colour, which gives you plenty of leeway with the rest of the room. On one master bathroom I trowelled on two separate colours to create the pattern.

Recent work

From stripped back to finished.

A lot of preparation and detail goes into every finish. Here are three recent jobs from start to finish.

Full renovation

The rooflight room

This room was fully vapour barriered, plasterboarded and skimmed, including the ceiling and rooflight. The existing window wall needed plenty of attention, with the curved window reveals formed and plastered to create a clean, seamless finish around each opening. A lot of preparation and detail went into this one.

Rendering

Another gable brought back to life

The existing sand and cement render had failed, so this one was taken right back and rebuilt properly from the substrate up. A proper transformation and, more importantly, a finish built to last.

Venetian plaster

From plain wall to polished finish

This feature wall was finished in an off-white Super Lucido Venetian plaster, creating a subtle marble effect with a high-polished finish.

Keeping the colour soft and neutral means it sits naturally within the room, while the movement and variation in the plaster gives the wall depth and character. A clean, understated finish that completely changes the look of the space without overpowering it.
